They're making more cuts. Of course the first to go is the one that makes the place run somewhat smoothly. My faith in the company is shaken. On the bright side my project finally goes live Monday. This week was fine until today.
I'll post a link to my app on Monday

:( That sucked. My mom did the unemployment dance for several months. But she finally found a job she likes and hopes she doesn't get laid off.
It makes me think that if they'll get rid of her, the glue in this whole mess, they'll get rid of more. And now without her everything's going to slowly fall apart. I'm definitely looking for a new job now.
Yep- sounds like your company has poor management if they did this. Can't wait to see your app!
On a side note- I am becoming more and more frustrated trying to find useful info via google about flex best practices. Since you are a pro AS developer- I'll ask you. I hope you don't mind thinking about work stuff on a weekend- this is simple though:
In Flex I have the impression that there are only two "frames" the pre-loader and the main application frame. I think this differs from "traditional" as/flash development, true or false? So my question is: I want to create a login screen for my flex app. I have my main screen with all controls layed out in my mx:Application node (and therefore in my base state). Do I create the login screen as a different state? If so do I just "remove" all of the main screen children in the state change, or is there a way to create a state that just specifies everything from a blank canvas instead of relative to the base state? Then I presume that I would set this state in my "completion" event on the application so that the login state would always appear first, right?
OR is there a better way to do this? I am always really concerned with the "proper" way to do things and I don't want to do something else entirely when its not appropriate.
If you dont have time or dont want to think about programming this weekend- then no worries! I am going to be working on other things for most of the afternoon anyways before I even get to the login stuff. Man Flash/Flex/AS is really fun to work with and very satisfying--lots of immediate positive reinforcement...makes it addicting-- but then again I don't write in this 8hrs/day!
Steve
Sorry, Steve. I haven't dealt with Flex, only Flash. Flash doesn't have the different views that Flex has so I can't really help you out there.
